Heifer International and Organic Valley – An Organic Partnership

Organic Valley Family of Farms and Heifer International have come together on the belief that healthy food should be accessible to everyone. Together, we're working to keep family farmers farming, here and around the world. We dedicate ourselves not simply to the food, but to the qualities and methods of producing that that food; not merely to the soil, but to a lasting and sustainable stewardship of the land - all part of our commitment to the continuing welfare of people, animals and the earth.

The Product of Partnership – MORE
(More Organic for Everyone)

Organic Valley’s support is focused on one of Heifer USA’s keystone projects, the National More Organic for Everyone (MORE) project. This project seeks to improve access to high-quality organic food by underserved communities and strengthen linkages between organic producers and communities in food desert areas, where sources of wholesome and healthy food are limited or nonexistent. The MORE project is making impact by:

• Training organic producers to establish farmers markets, CSAs, and other direct marketing opportunities.
• Encouraging community gardeners to grow food not only for their own consumption, but also for their extensive community networks and for market.
• Distributing organic produce to food pantries and shelters.
• Creating key partnerships between organic and sustainable agriculture organizations to address policy challenges and opportunities for linking low income families with high quality, local organic produce.
• Increasing the purchasing power of limited resource households through influential policy efforts, such as those impacting the funding that federal and state food programs allocate toward local produce.
