The panel of guests include representatives from Heifer U.S., Delta Garden Study, Lower Mississippi Delta Obesity Prevention Research Unit (Delta OPRU) Agricultural Research Service (ARS),USDA and the Arkansas Governor’s No Kid Hungry campaign. The “100 Mile Meal” is an opportunity to learn about issues facing Arkansas as we seek to provide good food, grown in balance with the earth, for all Arkansans.

The discussion panel will bring expertise on the latest research regarding food deserts as well as the “on-the-ground” perspective of Heifer’s Delta Project partners working in the field. Heifer is working in Arkansas’ Delta Region to increase access to healthy foods. The annual 100 Mile Meal provides a chance not only to eat an entire dinner of fresh, locally-produced food, but also to be part of a stimulating evening of discovery about the impact of individual food choices and how communities in Arkansas are working to support local farmers and change the way we eat.
